We have some beautiful chocolate mint growing with our other herbs in the backyard. I love the taste of fresh mint. It can be a very strong flavour but paired with chocolate it is at it’s best. Their are so many flavoured vodkas on the market now, you are only limited by your imagination to what you can create. You don’t need to have chocolate mint for this recipe, there are lots of different kinds of mint and it is readily available in the market. Try this lovely little sipper next time you spot some mint.
1 1/2 cups mint
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
Dissolve sugar and water together in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the syrup is clear. Place the mint in the syrup. No need to chop, you can add it stems and all. Let it steep for 20 min. Strain the syrup and cool in the refrigerator.
1 oz. chocolate vodka
1/2 oz. mint simple syrup
Mint for garnish
Add the vodka and syrup to a glass with ice and top with 7 Up. Garnish with mint.
