Are we ever lucky to have this fine dining restaurant in our neighborhood. You will find this restaurant located in southwest Calgary in West Market Square. Upon entering the restaurant you walk into a cozy rustic dining room but we were then lead to their glass enclosed patio that is warm with heated floors and has a beautiful wood burning fireplace in the center. Our table was in a alcove perfect for the six of us to dine.
When fine dining I always order a gin (preferably Beefeater) martini. I order it on the rocks but rarely get ice, they got it right!! Next we got a basket of fresh buns. Simple, yes but when you have hungry kids and or adults it is essential. We then received our appetizers and I ordered the mussels. This seems to be an easy fix to make sure there are no broken and or closed mussels before they leave the kitchen but so many restaurants don’t do this. As you can see in the photo every mussel was perfect and done in a beautiful wine cream sauce. All the other appetizers where gobbled up. There were crab cakes, escargot in a portobello and a lobster bisque (sorry no photo).
The entrees then came out. The service all along the way was attentive and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and specials. No complaints there. I had the pan seared stilton steak which was done to perfection. There were also at our table the salmon fillet, smoked salmon salad, steak neptune and roasted rack of lamb. There certainly were no complaint and lots of mmmm’s and aaaah’s. We finished the night with three chocolate truffle mousse towers to share. Perfect way to end the dinner.
