Chocolate Mint Fizz
We have some beautiful chocolate mint growing with our other herbs in the backyard. I love the taste of fresh mint so I came up with this Chocolate Mint Fizz. Mint can be a very strong flavor but paired with chocolate it is at it’s best. There are so many flavored vodkas on the market now, you are only limited by your imagination to what you can create. You don’t need to have chocolate mint for this recipe, there are lots of different kinds of mint and it is readily available in the market. Try this lovely little sipper next time you spot some mint.
Recipe
Simple syrup
1 1/2 cups mint
1 cup each of water and sugar
Dissolve sugar and water together in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the syrup is clear. Place the mint in the syrup. No need to chop, you can add it stems and all. Let it steep for 20 min. Strain the syrup and cool it in the refrigerator.
1 oz. chocolate vodka
1/2 oz. mint simple syrup
7 Up
Mint for garnish
Add the vodka and syrup to a glass with ice and top with 7 Up. Garnish with mint.

Yay! Another use for all the mint syrup I have on hand. I love the idea of the chocolate. Since I don’t have chocolate vodka on hand, I might try adding some chocolate bitters instead.

Tara….this cocktail looks fabulous! I grew chocolate mint last year but was late in getting to the nursery this year and they were out! I bet it really enhanced the flavor of this luscious drink!
