Ingredients

  • 6 golden apples
  • 2 cups of orange juice
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup of chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup of brown sugar for the syrup and 1/4 cup for the filling.
  • 2 ½ Tablespoons of butter
  • Optional to serve: Vanilla or cinnamon ice cream.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Wash the apples. With a knife, core each apple starting at the stem, removing the center of the apple.
  • Place each prepared apple, immediately before they turn brown, on a 10 x 10-inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, prepare the filling by mixing the cinnamon, nuts, and ¼ cup of brown sugar.
  • With a spoon, place the filling inside of each apple. Divide your butter into six small pieces and place 1 small piece on top of each apple.
  • In another bowl, mix the orange juice with the rest of the brown sugar to make the syrup. Pour inside of the pan to let the apples sit in the juice.
  • Place in the preheated oven for about 50 - 60 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the syrup has thickened.
  • Serve warm by themselves, or you can top them with vanilla ice cream.
  • Enjoy!
