Ingredients

  • 1/2 large yellow onion diced (about 1 1/4 cups)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne optional
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and add butter and onions.
  • Stir together until the onions are dark caramelized. Stir often. This can take a while, don’t rush it, as you want them caramelized but not burnt. Cook for about 25-30 minutes at least.
  • While onions are cooking, add sour cream, mayo, cayenne, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to a medium mixing bowl.
  • Add the caramelized onions to the mayo and sour cream mixture when the onions are done.
  • Stir until well combined.
  • Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Serve with chips or veggies or both!
