Chocolate Cherry Magic Bars Recipe

These Chocolate Cherry Magic Bars are one-of-a-kind delicious. If you were a lover of the Cherry Blossom, this treat is for you. Cut them into small squares and pop them into the freezer, they are even better frozen!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • cup shredded coconut
  • cup chopped peanuts
  • ½ cup 1 stick/8 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 10 oz. jar maraschino cherries, drained and cut in half.
  • ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Butter a deep 9x9 baking dish and line it with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk the granulated sugar, flour, cocao powder, salt, and baking powder.
  • Add the shredded coconut and chopped peanuts. Mix well. Set aside.
  • In another mixing bowl, add the melted butter, ¼ cup of chocolate chips, and vanilla extract. Mix until the chocolate chips are melted and combined with the butter.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well in between each addition.
  • Add half of the dry mixture and mix until well combined. Then, add the remaining dry ingredients and stir until they are fully combined.
  • Transfer the dough to the prepared 9x9 baking dish and press it evenly into the pan.
  • Add the maraschino cherries and chocolate chips evenly on top of the batter.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set and not jiggly.
  • Cool the bars overnight.
  • Cut the bars to the desired size.
  • Serve and Enjoy!
