What Ingredients go into These Valentine’s Day Donuts?

Ingredients.

Recipe Ingredients

All-Purpose flour – Standard flour for baking.

Baking soda and baking powder – These are leavening agents to help your donuts rise.

Granulated sugar – White sugar works best for these donuts.

Eggs – Also gives the donuts height, plus moisture.

Strawberry extract – You can also use a strawberry emulsion if you like.

Melted butter – Adds richness to the donut.

Strawberry Milk – You can get strawberry milk in single servings.

White, Red, and Pink Melting Chocolates – You can use all three or whatever you like for decorating.

Valentine’s Day Sprinkles – Get a nice collection of sprinkles so you have a choice for decorating.

Coconut Oil (optional) – Coconut oil helps chocolate to be smoother, shinier, and it dries harder, too.

Supply List

Wire Rack – For cooling your donuts.

Parchment Paper – Use for decorating to make clean-up a breeze.

Piping Bag – For filling the donut pan and also for decorating if need be.

Donut Pan – You can use a metal or silicone pan.

Cooking Spray – Necessary to have the donuts release easily.

How to Make These Valentine’s Day Donuts

Dry ingredients.
Eggs added to dry ingredients.
Strawberry milk added.
All the ingredients added.

Step by Step:

Start by adding your flour, baking soda, sugar and baking powder to a mixing bowl. Whisk together.

Add in your eggs, strawberry extract, melted butter, and milk. Mix on high until well combined and smooth.

Filled donut pan.

Pour batter into a piping bag, spray baking pan with Baker’s Joy cooking spray, and pipe batter into each well. Only fill wells halfway; otherwise, they will spill over when baking.

Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes, just until baked through. Do not overbake, or they will become dry. Remove from the oven and let cool. Repeat until the batter is used up.

Place your melting chocolates into separate bowls (I do roughly a cup of each) and place each in the microwave one at a time. Microwave in one-minute intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. You can add a teaspoon of coconut oil to make melted chocolate smoother if you desire, but not necessary.

Place parchment paper under a wire rack. Dip the top half of each donut in melted chocolate and place on the wire rack to set. Decorate with sprinkles, or place some chocolate in a piping bag and decorate as desired. Get creative! The possibilities are endless.

Once chocolate has set, serve and enjoy. The perfect donut for Valentine’s Day!

Recipe Pro Tips!

FAQs

Don’t overfill your donut pan or the donuts will spill over in baking. Fill just to the halfway point or slightly less.

Be creative in decorating, but do the less expensive; you can easily just do one color of melting chocolate and some sprinkles.

Storage

Baked donuts last about 1-2 days at room temperature but up to one week when refrigerated.

You can store them in an air-tight container with wax paper between layers for up to 2-3 months in the freezer.
