What Apples go well with Pork?
Some of the best apples for cooking and baking are Braeburn, Gala, Granny Smith, Honey Gold, Fuji, Golden Delicious, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady. Golden Delicious and Honeycrisp are particularly good with pork. Apples and pork go well together because they balance each other off; one is sweet and the other salty.

What goes into Apple Pork Chops?
These juicy, tender pork chops will have everyone smiling, and they are perfectly kid-friendly too.
Ingredients
Pork chops, boneless, medium size – This kind of pork chops are usually inexpensive, and you may even get them on sale. You can also use pork steak (tougher cut of meat) or pork tenderloin (tender cut of meat).
Sea salt – This kind of salt or Kosher works great.
Ground black pepper – Freshly ground, as always, is best.
Honey – This adds the perfect sweetness to the pork.
Dijon mustard – With the sweetness of the honey, the Dijon mustard gives a lovely tang.
Minced garlic – You could use jarred minced garlic in a recipe like this as you aren’t after huge garlic flavor. Fresh, of course, works well.
Lemon – This adds brightness to the dish and brings everything alive.
Extra virgin oil – Always a great choice in oils.
Apples quartered – As mentioned above, a variety of apples cook or bake well; the most popular to serve with pork are Golden Delicious and Honeycrisp.
To Garnish
Chopped fresh parsley leaves – Just a little brightness of fresh parsley is perfect for a garnish on this dish.
How to Make Apple Pork Chops
Make sure you don’t overcrowd your dish as you want it to roast as opposed to steaming. One apple may be sufficient.
Pat dry the pork chops. Season with salt and pepper.
In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, stir together honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, lemon juice and oil. Place the pork chops in the baking dish and flip to cover both sides with the marinade. Cover with plastic foil and marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 425F. Add apples around the pork chop. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until cooked through and browned. Broil for 5 min. for extra caramelization. Garnish with parsley and serve.
Enjoy!
Recipe Pro Tips!
What is the secret to juicy, tender pork chops?
Choose the right cut of pork for the job. These inexpensive, smaller pork chops do well with a quick bake after a marinade. They are cooked at a high heat for a short period of time so they won’t dry out.
Also, the apples and sauce help to keep them juicy and tender too.
How to Store Leftover Pork Chops
Store the pork chops and apples in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
You can freeze them for up to 1 month. To reheat, defrost, and warm in the microwave.
What Goes with Apple Pork Chops?
A rice like this dish would be excellent: Harvest Rice with Apples and Pecans. If that is too many apples for you, just hold them off in the rice and just make it with the pecans. Or you could make this Instant Pot Rice Pilaf and a simple salad or steamed veggies. Mashed potatoes also work great for this dish.

I made this and it turned out just as the picture. Sauce was yummy. Caramelized perfectly .i made extra sauce used more Dijon mustard to cut the sweetness. Next time I will use 3 apples. Broiled for 5 mins at the end. Everyone loved it.

I have to agree with the previous post. The sauce is okay. The pork chops did not look anything like the phot. I even broiled them for a few minutes.

We will have to take this back to the testing kitchen and see what has gone wrong. Will update soon.

There was nothing tasty about this recipe

Sorry, this recipe was pretty much a total bust for me and my wife. The photo shows nice browned pork chops and caramelized apples, in reality not even close. Came out pale as could be. Flavor? So-so at best. Making a glaze from the sauce may help some, not sure. I followed the recipe exactly using honeycrisp apples. So ultimately, the recipe or the photo or both just don’t match the results.

We just made this again with success, hubby loves it. Sorry you didn’t have success, I think you may have put too many apples in using honeycrisp apples as they are large. This will result in the dish steaming as opposed to roasting. Also, your oven may not be hot enough, You can always broil them if the dish is not browned to your liking. I will make some notes so this doesn’t happen to others.
