Gorgeous vibrant colors that stay even after cooking are what you will get with using Terrific Trio Creamer Potatoes. These Little Potatoes won’t bleed, or blemish either. They are a great potato to not only slow cook with but also roast, grill, boil, fry, or use in a salad.

Little Potatoes are not baby potatoes but full-grown potatoes. They are specifically bred to remain small like a cherry tomato. This fills them with a nutritional punch that is second to none. I love them for their buttery flavor and creamy texture.

Because they are consistently sized Creamer Potatoes cook evenly in all your recipes. They contain potassium and dietary fiber plus are fat, cholesterol, sodium, and gluten-free.

What Goes into Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes?

Ingredients for Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes

Are sausages OK in a slow cooker? These simple ingredients are easy to find and any smoked sausage would work in this. Italian sausage would probably crumble and not give you the same outcome so I like to stay with a kielbasa type sausage.

Sausage, cabbage, potatoes, and onions all go so lovely together. They make a great hearty meal. Do you need to pre-cook the sausages before putting them in a slow cooker? Using a smoked sausage that is already ready-to-serve doesn’t need cooking beforehand but I like to brown them up a bit as it gives the dish and the sausage so much more flavor.

Ingredients

12 oz. kielbasa sausage (any kind will work)

1.5 lbs.Terrific Trio Little Potatoes, whole

6 cups purple cabbage, sliced

1 sweet onion, coarsely chopped

2 tsp garlic, minced

½ tsp Kosher salt

¼ tsp fresh ground pepper

1 tsp dried thyme

1 ½ cups chicken broth

½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional or less to taste)

1 tbsp brown sugar

10 oz egg noodles

Parsley or dill to garnish

Forkful of slow cooker sausage and potatoes.

Can You Put Raw Potatoes in a Slow Cooker?

Close-up of a Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes recipe.

Yes, raw, uncooked potatoes can go directly into the slow cooker. Using Little Potatoes in this crock pot sausage and potatoes recipe is so easy as they come pre-washed and ready to go. No peeling is needed. Actually, their skins are tasty and nutritious too.

This sausage and potatoes recipe is very easy to make. If you have a slow cooker that you can also saute in, then you are only using one pot to make this, which is great for easy weeknight cleanup.

How to Make Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes

Sliced sausage on a board
Fried sausage in a pan

Slice the kielbasa into 3/8 inch pieces and lightly brown in a non-stick skillet or cast iron pan on the stovetop over medium heat.

All ingredients in the slow cooker

Add the sausage to the slow cooker along with the Terrific Trio Little Potatoes and all the other ingredients except the egg noodles and parsley/dill.

Stir to combine.

Cover and cook on low for 6 hours, do not open the lid during the cooking time. If need be you can go to 6-8 hours but I don’t like to overcook recipes in a slow cooker giving you not a great result. In 6 hours everything is tender and the flavor has melded perfectly.

Just before you are ready to serve cook the egg noodles as per the package directions.

Stir the potatoes, cabbage, and kielbasa, divide the noodles between the bowls, and spoon the potato mixture over top. Garnish with parsley or dill. You can also serve it with a dollop of sour cream.

Enjoy!
