When I thought of crunchy goodness, a Waldorf salad popped into my head immediately. This is one of my favorite recipes of all time. All of the ingredients are crunchy, Granny Smith apple, walnuts, celery, grapes………….what a minute, grapes aren’t crunchy???
Well, there is a variety that comes out every Canadian Thanksgiving that is truly crunchy and I love them. I might have been a little early this year as I haven’t seen them yet but Safeway here in Canada always carries them.
They are large, sweet, and yes crunchy!! I love them and could eat one after another. Amazing!!!
Waldorf salad has been around forever!! It first made it onto the scene in 1893 at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City and from there grew in popularity.
It sometimes includes turkey or chicken but I like it with the addition of grapes. Especially ones that you can get this time of year. Keep your eye open for them, they make such a difference. ENJOY!!

This was one of my grandmother’s favorite things to make but I haven’t thought of it in YEARS. Funny how things become popular and then folks just don’t make them as much anymore. This is a classic for sure, Tara!
