This Avocado Ranch Dressing is a must-have recipe in my family, always at hand when we eat fresh salads or grilled chicken. Perfectly chosen fresh herbs give this dressing a garden-fresh taste. Thankfully, all family members love avocado, making it truly kid-friendly.

What is in Avocado Ranch Dressing?

Avocado Ranch Dressing - ingredients over the countertop.

Creamy avocado goodness combines with ranch flavors to perfection. This recipe is made with plain Greek yogurt and fresh lemon juice, making it naturally gluten-free and nutrient-dense due to the healthy fats.

Avocado Ranch Dressing Ingredients

Avocado – Make sure to get a nice ripe avocado or speed up the process by adding an avocado with another fruit, like a banana or apple, to a paper bag to have the avocado ripen faster.

Greek yogurt – Yogurt works great for this recipe, but you can also use sour cream.

Mayonnaise – I love the rich and creamy texture you get with mayonnaise. You can also use a light mayo here if you like. Or replace it with 1/4 cup of avocado or olive oil.

Fresh lemon juice – Fresh is always best, but you can use bottled lemon juice in a pinch.

Garlic powder –  This adds a savory punch of garlic flavor without the sharpness of raw garlic. However, if you’re a true garlic lover, you can replace it with one garlic clove. The flavor will be stronger but still delicious.

Onion powder – It complements great with the fresh herbs; I wouldn’t skip it.

Fresh chives – I love the freshness and vibrant touch that chives provide to dressings. It is the key ingredient for a mouthwatering avocado ranch.

Fresh dill – I like to use fresh dill whenever possible, but you can replace it with 1/2 tsp of dry dill if desired.

Fresh parsley – As fresh parsley is easy to find, I recommend doing so. It will be worth it.

Sea salt – I like to use sea salt, but Kosher or Himalayan salt would also work.

Milk – You’ll need it to achieve the perfect consistency for the dressing; begin with 1-2 tablespoons.

Does Chick-fil-A sell their avocado ranch?

Yes! Homemade avocado ranch also usually has lower levels of sodium and fat than the ranch dressings that are factory-manufactured. It’s also naturally gluten-free!
