What Goes Into 4 Ingredient Oven Baked Pork Chops?

Ingredients for pork chops

All you need is four ingredients to grab, and you will have dinner on the table in no time with 4 Ingredient Oven Baked Pork Chops. This quick, easy recipe is also hardy and has been a favorite of ours for so many years!! Sometimes these old-school recipes just can’t be beat!!

Grab some pork chops, apple pie filling, Stove Top Stuffing, and fresh parsley, and you are good to go!! We are not talking about a gourmet meal but a quick fix!! The total cooking time is 55 minutes, and the preparation time is 5 minutes.

Keep the pork chops thin, thinner the better, definitely under 1-inch thick is the best.

Try different types of Stovetop Stuffing too. They have turkey, chicken, cornbread, savory herb and even pork. Choose what you like; they would all work great! Today we have chosen cornbread for something different as I have always used chicken or turkey as that is what the store had available.

A delicious easy dinner pulled together in no time flat! Enjoy!!

Ingredients

Stove Top Stuffing

Can apple pie filling

Large thin pork chops

Salt and pepper

Parsley to garnish

How To Bake Pork Chops in the Oven

This easy baked pork chops recipe is such an easy dinner. This is all you have to do!

Preheat the oven to 375F.

Make Stove Top Stuffing according to the package.

Spray an 8×11″ or suitable baking dish with cooking spray. Spread out pie filling. Salt and pepper pork chops and lay on top. Top with stuffing.

Bake for 40 min. covered with tin foil or until pork chops are cooked through.

Remove foil for the last 10 min.

Garnish with parsley.

Do you Cook Pork Chops in the Oven Covered or Uncovered?

If you prefer tender, juicy and moist pork chops, wrap them in foil like we do with this recipe. This is the best recipe for tender pork chops, and the pairing with the stuffing and apple pie filling is just so crazy good.

In other recipes, if you cook them uncovered, the pork chops turn out crispy, chewy, and firm. So it depends on what you’re seeking to achieve, juicy and tender or crisp pork chops.

How do you Keep Pork Chops from Drying out in the Oven?

Pork chops on a white plate with a forkful on top

To prevent dryness in the oven, choose the right cooking time for the particular pork. Pork can be of various ranges, from boneless to bone-in and of varying quantity and quality. The right time and temperature are the key to have juicy and tender pork chops. Do not overcook or over brown; you still want a bit of pink. Pork is cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 145F.

You can also follow tips such as cooking on a stove prior to the oven. This sears and seals in the juices, and then you finish them off in the oven. Or adding extra butter to the chops while cooking makes them not only juicier but tastier too. Also, before prepping the pork, leave it at room temperature for about 20 minutes for pork chops, longer for bigger cuts of meat.

How Long does it Take to Cook Pork Chops in the Oven at 350?

Again, this depends on the type of pork. It takes around 20 minutes to cook the boneless pork at 350 degrees F or 175 degrees Celsius. Bone-in pork requires more time due to the presence of bones.

Once the pork is brown, the pork needs to be turned over and baked for another 20 to 25 minutes or so. Hence it takes somewhere from 40-45 minutes in total. Bone-in pork chops require a few more minutes, i.e., anywhere between 3 to 4 additional minutes. This is for a thicker chop and one that is cooked on its own.

But you can never rely on time to make sure your pork is cooked. Always use an instant-read thermometer and look for an internal temperature of 145F for pork.

For a recipe like we have today, where the pork is sandwiched between other ingredients, it will take longer.

Not sure which picture you are referring to, there is one that is the chops before they go into the oven. That is when I am talking about the prep for the recipe. None of the other pictures do the chops look raw.

I remember making this years ago. My husband and I loved it. Very very easy. I don’t even remember where I got the recipe. I completely have forgotten about this dish so thanks for the reminder. I’m making it again!

My daughter has kind of taken over ownership on making this recipe. We all love and just had it again a few weeks ago. So very easy and so delish!

I was wondering if this could be done in a crock pot? I think the apples and pork chops would be great, but I wonder if the stuffing would be ok. Or do you think the stuffing would get soggy? Any thoughts?

I think the stuffing might be soggy. It kind of crisps up a little in the oven.

?Crockpot, do you mean mean the pan? I said 10 minutes but yes you can increase that time to 20 min. as long as you watch them.

I think fifty minutes could be a long time for the family to wait for a meal at dinnertime. Let me suggest a quicker fix. Use the large cast iron skillet. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and oven-heat the skillet at the same time. I would choose thick chops, On the stove top, sear one side, flip the chops and slide the skillet back into the preheated oven and cook for SIX MINUTES or until done. Cook the stuffing as directed and heat the apple pie filling on the stove top either before or after cooking the chops. Plate your food and you should have it on the table in twenty minutes. You could brine the chops first if you do have the extra time…30 minutes will tenderize them.

That would be quicker for sure. I do like to pop things in the oven personally and have a little down time or time to prep other things. Thank you for taking the time for your suggestion though so people can decide how fast they would like to get their dinner on the table.

I have been thinking of adding one but it all costs money, sorry. You have to upgrade to another package to include the photo. You probably don’t realize that this costs.
