What Goes into a Skillet Lasagna?

Ingredients for skillet lasagna

The key to making a meal in 30 minutes is to have things ready and organized for you already, which is called mise en place. Purchase garlic in a jar that is already minced, cheese that is grated and packaged and jarred tomato sauce (I like a marinara sauce). All of these items are time-savers to get your meal on the table quickly and deliciously.

Also, boiling or cooking the lasagna noodles right in the skillet saves time cooking, assembling and cleaning. You can use no-boil noodles for this recipe, too but just cook the noodles for less time. With no assembly required or cooking of the noodles separately, you will be wanting to make this lasagna more and more.

Add the lasagna noodles, the jarred sauce and the water and stir to combine.

Cover and cook, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and allow to simmer over low heat for 15-18 minutes or until the noodles are tender. Stir occasionally so the noodles won’t stick together.

Then add the ricotta cheese in dollops around the pan and sprinkle the mozzarella and parmesan over the top.

Cover and allow the cheese to melt.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve immediately.
