This ooey-gooey and very satisfying Instant Pot Lasagna can be on your table quickly and simply. Nothing beats the perfect lasagna, and now you can have a smaller version done fast in your instant pot too.

We love lasagna here in many forms but making a huge pan of it can be time-consuming and exhausting. The Instant Pot makes it so much easier that you can have a quick weeknight lasagna to enjoy anytime.

What Equipment do you need for Instant Pot Lasagna?

Lasagna on a plate and an Instant Pot in the background

Well to start with, you need an Instant Pot or a pressure cooker, but if you don’t have those, you can use a conventional oven too.

I love to use a springform pan for this recipe. It keeps the lasagna nice and tight while cooking, and then it is so easy to serve with just removing the ring. Slice it like you would a pie, and voila, you have a gorgeous dinner.

Can I cook the lasagna if I don’t have a springform pan? Yes, you sure can! You can cook it right in the pot of your pressure cooker. For this method, you want to add your meat first on the bottom, then sauce, noodles, cheese, etc. and repeat.

How To Make Instant Pot Lasagna

Cheese layer ingredients in a bowl
Cheese layer mixed together
Beef and onions in a pan

Let’s dive into making this amazing Instant Pot Lasagna Recipe. Luscious tomato sauce and cheese with layers of lasagna noodles and meat, what is not to love about this recipe.

In a medium bowl mix, all the ingredients in the cheese layer together until well combined and set aside.

In a medium skillet or non-stick frypan over medium heat, brown the ground beef until it is no longer pink.

Add the chopped onions and continue to cook until the onions are softened, about 3-4 minutes. Then add the garlic and cook an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from the heat and set aside.

In a 7-inch springform pan, begin to layer your lasagna.

1. Cover the bottom of the assembled pan with 4 broken no-boil noodles.

2. Next, completely cover the noodles with 3/4 cup of the marinara sauce.

3. Spread ½ the meat mixture over the sauce and press down slightly to compress the ingredients.

4. Next, spread ½ the cheese mixture evenly over the meat, pressing it down gently to compress the ingredients in the pan.

Repeat all 4 steps again.

Finishing the Lasagna and Baking

Cheese on top
Foil on top of springform pan

Cover the top with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and ½ cup of parmesan.

Spray a sheet of aluminum foil with non-stick cooking spray and cover the pan with the foil.

Add 1 ½ cups water to the Instant Pot.

Place the covered lasagna pan on a trivet with handles, then place it in the instant pot.

Lock the lid and set the release valve to seal.

Select manual on your instant pot control panel and set the time for 25 minutes to pressure cook.

Allow the instant pot to natural release for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.

Open the instant pot and remove the lasagna pan, place on a baking sheet and remove the foil.

Broil in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese on top begins to brown. Watch it closely so as not to allow it to burn.

Remove the pan from the oven and let rest for about 15 minutes. This will help the lasagna to set and hold its form when you remove the springform ring.

Run a knife around the outside of the lasagna to loosen the lasagna from the pan. Release the springform ring and remove it.

Slice and serve with remaining marinara sauce poured over top.

Can you Cook Frozen Lasagna in an Instant Pot?

Large slice of lasagna topped with marinara sauce

Can you cook frozen lasagna in an Instant Pot? Yes, you can, keep a few rules in mind. Place the lasagna on a trivet and put 1 1/2 cups of water in the bottom of the Instant Pot. This recipe would be perfect waiting for you in the freezer.

Place in your frozen lasagna. Lock lid into place and seal the steam nozzle. Cook on high pressure for 20 minutes cooking time. Naturally release for 10 minutes. Continue like we did and broil for a few minutes to brown cheese, if desired.

What can I Serve with my Instant Pot Lasagna?

What to serve with lasagna? It is pretty much a meal onto its own. Make it easy on yourself and grab some rolls or breadsticks from the grocery store for dipping. If you would like more, then here are some of our favorites to serve with delicious lasagna.
