Looking for a simple yet impressive appetizer? These Goat Cheese Wrapped Grapes combine juicy, sweet grapes with tangy goat cheese and a crunchy nut coating for the perfect bite-sized treat. Elegant enough for holiday entertaining and easy enough for everyday snacking, they’re always a hit at parties, wine nights, and charcuterie spreads.

I love a small appetizer to start off an evening with friends. Something like our Coconut Shrimp Recipe that is simple yet divine. Or our delicious little Crab Rangoon. Both are always a hit.

Goat Cheese Wrapped Grape Ingredients

Ingredients.

I love to make these in the summer, but again in the fall when there is a variety of grapes out that are really crunchy. So delicious!! They also make a great holiday appetizer too.

What is Za’atar?

Za’atar is a fragrant Middle Eastern spice blend made from a combination of herbs, spices, and sesame seeds. Known for its earthy, tangy, nutty flavor, za’atar is a staple ingredient throughout the Middle East and is used to season everything from breads and meats to vegetables and dips.

Ingredients

Seedless grapes – I have only made these with green grapes, as that is what I prefer.

Cream cheese – The cream cheese needs to be nicely softened.

Goat cheese – The goat cheese has to be at room temperature also and nicely softened.

Za’atar – This spice blend is herbaceous, earthy, nutty and bright. Perfect for this appetizer.

Pistachios – These need to be lightly salted and finely chopped. The pistachios go so well with this; I have not tried other nuts.

Rinse and pat dry the grapes and set them aside.

In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, goat cheese, and Za’atar together until well blended.

Take a small amount of the cheese mixture and wrap it around a grape and roll it into a ball.

Place the wrapped grapes on a parchment-lined tray or baking sheet. Repeat until you have coated all the grapes.

Chill the wrapped grapes in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

Rolling balls in nuts.

While the grapes chill, chop the pistachios with a knife or a food processor. You want the nuts chopped very fine as they stick better to the cheese.

Once the grapes have cooled, roll them in the chopped pistachios, making sure the balls are completely covered with the chopped nuts. Place them back on the same tray or baking sheet and return them to the refrigerator for at least 45 minutes to chill and firm up.

Serve them immediately, or transfer them to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Storage

Store Goat Cheese Wrapped Grapes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For the best texture, serve chilled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes! They can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.

What nuts work best?

Pecans, walnuts, pistachios, and almonds all pair wonderfully with goat cheese and grapes.

Can I leave out the nuts?

Absolutely. The grapes are delicious with just the goat cheese coating if you prefer a nut-free version. You could drizzle with a bit of honey for an extra flavor.
