Dracula’s Kiss – Halloween Cocktail

I adore Halloween as much as any other holiday, and this Dracula’s Kiss – Halloween Cocktail is a great way to celebrate. With red blood dripping from this cocktail to fun vampire teeth and a delicious libation to sip, this cocktail has it all.

Other hauntingly good Halloween treats are this Spooky Halloween Cocktail, Embalming Fluid Cocktail, Red Velvet Halloween Cupcakes, Spider Web Dip, a fun Halloween Cheese Board, or our infamous Witch’s Fingers.

Blood red drips make this Halloween cocktail just that more spooky. Dracula is a beloved character for Halloween, so this is a perfect cocktail to celebrate the haunting hour with.

What is in a Dracula’s Kiss Halloween Cocktail?

Ingredients for Dracula's Kiss - Halloween Cocktail

This vampire-inspired cocktail comes together using pink cranberry juice, black cherry juice, grenadine, and lime juice, giving it its ghastly, blood-red hue. A candied blood-droplet rim and a set of frightening fangs garnish this sweet yet tart Halloween beverage. These wicked ingredients are coalescing into a macabre concoction that will have you sinking your teeth in again and again.

Ingredients

For the candied blood droplet rim:

  • 2 tablespoons black cherry juice
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 10 drops red food coloring

For The Dracula’s Kiss Cocktail:

  • Ice
  • 2-ounces vodka
  • 2-ounces pink cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1-ounce black cherry juice
  • 1-ounce grenadine
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Candied blood (for rim)
  • Vampire teeth (for garnish)

How to Make a Dracula’s Kiss – Halloween Cocktail

This is an easy cocktail to pull together. Just a little forward-thinking in making the rim trim is all that is needed.

PROCESS:

For the blood droplet rim:

  1. To a small saucepan over medium-high heat, add light corn syrup and black cherry juice. Stir to mix. Bring to a boil (about 5 minutes) then reduce contents to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes or so while continuing to stir. Allow to cool to room temperature. You can rush this by refrigerating the syrup for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Add red food coloring. Stir to combine. The “blood” will be highly viscous, allowing it to stay in droplets on or near the rim of the glass for long periods of time.

For Dracula’s Kiss – Halloween Cocktail:

  1. Using a spoon, scoop out a small amount of the candied blood. A little goes a long way! Transfer the candied blood to the rim of your glass by tapping the spoon along the rim of your glass. Keep in mind that the “blood” will drip, even if you add the smallest amount to the rim. Start by adding very little and add more, if you need. Continue this process until you’ve coated the circumference of the rim.
  2. To a tall glass (or a cocktail shaker), add ice, vodka, pink cranberry juice, black cherry juice, grenadine, and lime juice. Stir with a bar spoon (or shake) for about 20 seconds. Strain into prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with plastic vampire teeth.

NOTES:

The candied blood can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Before using it again, make sure to bring it back down to room temperature.

Can I use regular cranberry juice cocktail?

In a taste comparison, the pink and regular cranberry juice are barely distinguishable in the cocktail. However, the pink cranberry juice is necessary for the proper “blood” color. Regular cranberry juice leads to a much deeper red cocktail. I’d suggest sticking with the pink cranberry juice to get the full, spooky effect.

Where can I find the plastic vampire teeth for the garnish?

I ended up purchasing my teeth on Amazon, having found only colored/neon sets in stores. Coming closer to Halloween, you should be able to find these teeth much easier, though, in any of the pop-up Halloween Stores or Dollar Stores in your community. They really add the perfect touch and are inexpensive, so buy a bunch of them!

How to Host a Great Halloween Party

Trick or Treating is lots of fun, but why limit the Halloween fun to one day? Extend your fun by learning How to Throw a Halloween Party for your friends and neighbors!

I love Halloween, and it’s not just because of the candy (but candy and other Halloween treats certainly don’t hurt).

Here’s what you need to throw a great, family-friendly Halloween party with great Halloween party ideas.

The question of how to decorate for a Halloween party can be tricky. You don’t want to scare the younger guests, but the older ones might appreciate some spooky party decor.

One solution is to have 2 party spaces – the main party space that’s full of Halloween fun and gore but nothing too scary, and then a second space that the kids hang out in that is more Halloween party fun. Get into it with fun ideas like using dry ice, lighting, and special effects.

Don’t forget about a cocktail too! We would serve up an Embalming Fluid Cocktail that was a big hit in scary skeleton glasses. The rest was BYOB. If you set up a bar with glasses and essentials, then people can help themselves.

Continue reading our great post How to Throw a Halloween Party and learn all about Halloween invitations, decorations, food, costumes, music, and more!! Make the night as memorable as can be. We loved hosting Halloween parties over the years and would invite up to 100 ghosts and goblins to participate in the festivities.

Blood not even close to being sticky enough to work and not drip right down the glass and inside

That would mean you didn’t cook the mixture long enough to get it to the sticky point.

So glad you like it! The skull decanter is Crystal Head Vodka which you can get in a liquor store.
