Berry Smoothie Ingredients

Recipe Ingredients.

Ingredients

Frozen mixed berries – You can freeze your own if you get them at a good price, but frozen berries are done at their peak and full of great nutrients still.

Frozen, sliced bananas – Peel your bananas and slice before you freeze, then they are super easy to add.

Vanilla unsweetened Greek yogurt – This then adds no additional sugars.

Milk – You can use whole milk, 2%, coconut, or almond (add more milk if needed).

Honey – It is a great ingredient that adds sweetness and flavor.

Protein powder – Optional, but gives you a great boost in the morning or any time.

FAQs

Use frozen berries for thick, icy texture.

Frozen berries act like ice but with more flavor and no dilution. They also help create that thick, creamy smoothie consistency everyone loves.

Add a creamy base for richness.

Greek yogurt, banana, or even avocado adds natural creaminess. If you want it extra thick, use frozen banana instead of fresh.

Adjust sweetness to taste.

Mixed berries vary in tartness. Taste before serving and sweeten with honey, maple syrup, or agave. Remember, just a little goes a long way.

Boost nutrition with add-ins.

A tablespoon of chia seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseed, or protein powder adds fiber and nutritional value without changing the flavor much.

Choose the right liquid.

Milk gives creaminess, coconut water adds natural sweetness, juice brightens the flavor, and almond milk keeps it light. Start with less and add as needed for the perfect texture.

Don’t skip the pinch of salt.

A tiny pinch of salt lifts the berry flavor and balances sweetness. It’s the secret ingredient most people forget!

Make it thicker with ice or oats.

If your smoothie comes out too thin, blend in a few ice cubes or a tablespoon of rolled oats. Oats help thicken and make it more filling.

Use a high-powered blender for best results.

If your blender struggles with frozen fruit, let the berries sit out for 5 minutes before blending, or pulse in short bursts.

Freeze leftovers into smoothie pops.

Pour extra smoothie into popsicle molds—waste-free and perfect for quick snacks or summer treats.
