Ingredients for Roasted Green Beans

Ingredients.
Can I Oven Roast Green Beans?

So many vegetables can get the benefit of oven roasting, and green beans are the same. They require very little effort to have a bang-up presentation.

Ingredients

  • Fresh green beans – Find the freshest you can; frozen will not work for this recipe.
  • Olive oil – I use a good EVOO for this recipe.
  • Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper – Always necessary to add a good salt and pepper.
  • Garlic, minced – Gives the beans added deliciousness.
  • Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese, grated – I love this combination of cheese for this recipe.
  • Crispy fried onions – These are so easy to add when you buy them from a can. Plus, they give the dish added texture and crunch.

How to Make Roasted Green Beans

Beans on a baking sheet.
Adding salt.
Adding oil.
Tossing beans.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.

Spread the green beans out on a large baking sheet in a single layer and toss with olive oil and Kosher salt.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 7 minutes. Toss the beans and return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the beans are crispy and tender.

Adding garlic.
Adding black pepper.
Adding Parmesan.
Adding mozzarella.

Sprinkle the minced garlic and 1/4 tsp of fresh ground pepper over the beans and toss again.

Top the beans with the grated parmesan and mozzarella cheese. Return to the oven and broil for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is melted. (Make sure you watch it closely, as it will burn quickly under the broiler.)

Adding crispy fried onions.

Once the cheese is melted, sprinkle the crispy fried onions over the cheese and return to the oven (not the broiler), and heat until the onions are just warmed, 1 – 2 minutes. You can just put these in the shut off oven that is still warm.

On a platter.

Enjoy!

I love green beans and would happily eat them plain but add any sort of nuts and I’d be in heaven. These are truly lovely.

These are exactly how I like my green beans. I’d even swap out the butter for olive oil for a little extra nutrition.
