Baking this Peach Glazed Spiral Ham recipe is not only easy to serve because it is pre-cut but to glaze it only takes two ingredients. The ham practically cooks itself!

How To Check the Temperature of My Ham?

We always use one of the Thermoworks products either as a quick check like the Thermapen or a continuous thermometer like the ChefAlarm. Perfect temperature readings every time.

You want to heat your ham to 140F. Don’t overcook as it will be dry. Don’t forget that it is fully cooked already, and you are just heating it through.

How Long to Cook a Spiral Ham?

Here is our very simple recipe to get a crispy on the outside and juicy tender on the inside. Perfect to showcase table side for any occasion. You will also pray that not everyone will eat it all and you will have leftover ham, it is so good.

Place spiral sliced ham in a shallow baking dish or roasting pan cut side down.

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar and peach preserves.

Stir until combined. Continue stirring over medium heat, until the mixture comes to a bubble. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Spoon or brush half of the glaze over the ham.

Bake uncovered at 350 F for 1 hour. Spoon the remaining glaze and bake another 15-30 minutes longer or until a thermometer reads 140F and ham is heated through. Remove the ham from the oven and serve.

Don’t overcook your ham as it will dry out. If you like, you can foil it for the first half hour and then start to glaze. You will have a moister ham but not as crispy on the ends.

What is the Difference Between a Spiral Ham and a Regular Ham?

Showing crispy delicious spiral ham
Peach Glazed Spiral Ham

A spiral ham is a bone-in ham that has been cut on a continuous spiral leaving the meat still intact on the bone and keeping the original shape of the ham.

Spiral hams should be fully cooked but just make sure that it states that on the packaging. Reserve the glaze packet (if yours comes with one) for another use as this peach glaze is infinitely better.

To cook a regular ham we have a great post on everything you need to know in How To Cook a Ham 101. Or feeling adventuresome and want to brine and smoke a “raw ham”. We have that for you too.

How to Cook a Spiral Ham in a Crockpot

Pouring glaze on a ham

In a crockpot, you will get a juicier, more tender ham but not those wonderful crispy bits like you do when it is a baked ham in the oven.

You can use the glaze we have above also for a slow cooker and do it in the same fashion but add a little water, orange juice, or apple juice to the bottom of the crockpot so it won’t burn to the bottom.

Cook the ham for 3-4 hours until, again, the internal temperature reaches 140F.

How to Cut A Spiral Ham?

To cut a bone-in spiral ham, flip the ham over and have it sit on its butt if possible. Cut around the bone in a circle and lift off the slices of ham. Cut them into serving sizes.

Alternatively, place the ham on its side and slice half or whole slices off the bone again, carving around the bone.

Also, put out some mustards for that delicious ham. I love a Dijon mustard as it gives a tang to the sweet of the ham.
