What is in this Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe?

Ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe.
What kind of cheese goes best with Buffalo Wings?

Cheddar is a great all-round cheese with spicy ingredients like Buffalo Wings, but the one that is usually served with them is a blue cheese.

There are literally five ingredients to this recipe. So simple to make but delicious to eat.

Ingredients

Cooked shredded chicken – This dip is a good way to use up any leftover cooked chicken. A rotisserie chicken, boiled or braised chicken, and even canned chicken would work in this recipe.

Block cream cheese softened – To quickly soften cream cheese, remove it from the foil wrapper, place it on a plate, and microwave for 20-30 seconds.

Ranch dressing – Blue cheese dressing can be used in place of ranch if preferred.

Hot sauce, Franks Red Hot Sauce – This recipe used Frank’s Hot Sauce, but your favorite brand of hot sauce could be used.

Shredded cheddar cheese – This recipe uses mild cheddar cheese, but you can also use any good melting cheese like American Cheese, Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Monterey Jack, Muenster, Swiss, and Provolone.

Dippers – Add lots of dippers like tortilla chips, veggies, pretzel chips, corn chips, etc.

Recipe Pro Tips!

Dip on tortilla chips on a white plate.

Tips:

  • If using a shallow baking dish to prepare dip, like an 8×8 or 7×11 inch baking dish, there will be no need to stir dip during baking. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • To reheat, microwave portion for 1-2 minutes or until warmed through.
  • To reheat in the oven, place portion in an oven-safe dish and bake covered at 300 degrees for 10 minutes. Stir gently and continue to bake uncovered until heated through 5-10 minutes.
  • This dip can be prepared in a crock pot. Combine ingredients and place in the slow cooker, cover, and cook on high for 1 ½ hours. Gently stir, cover, and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Reduce to warm to keep the dip warm before serving.
  • This recipe can be doubled if preparing for a crowd. Use a 9×13 baking dish if doubling the recipe.
  • Garnish dip with blue cheese crumbles if desired.
