1 habanero, sliced lengthwise; optional for garnishing

How to Make a Mango Habanero Margarita

Margarita ingredients

Let’s whip up a batch of this amazing margarita recipe, it is a simple combination of lime juice, tequila and mango with only a few other additions. You will love this margarita!!

Add tequila, orange liquor, mango, lime juice, sugar, half habanero (NOTE – use only ¼ of a seeded habanero if you want it less spicy) and the ice into the canister of a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.

If you want a chile or Tajin rim, halve a lime, run the lime around the rim, and then dip the rim into the chili. You can also use a traditional salted rim or a sugar/salt mixture.

Transfer the contents of the blender into your prepared glass and optionally garnish with additional lime and/or habanero.

Note: The proportions mentioned are for one cup of approximately 12 ounces, serves 1.

Glassware to use: a traditional margarita cup or any other kinds, old fashion glass, wine glass or martini glass

TIPS:

-Frozen method has better consistency than made on the rocks. It is recommended that this is a blended frozen margarita and not on the rocks.

-To rim the glass, put the chili powder in a flat area (small dish or cutting board); wet half of the rim of the glass with a piece of lime.

-If you´re starting with frozen margarita chunks (Trader Joe´s are great, but any grocery store should have them!), use half the recommended amount of ice to begin since you may likely not need the full amount of ice; increase as necessary.

Different liquors to use: Mezcal, Vodka or Rum (just couldn´t be called margarita).

Add about 1 teaspoon of chili powder during the blending process to achieve a slightly different color, and the taste will be a bit more sweet and sour.

Mix it up with a different fresh seasonal berry (blueberries, strawberries, berries).

Add a serrano or chipotle chile instead of habanero, as mango goes well with those too.

Turn it into a mocktail by removing the liquor. Then the kids can join in on the festivities too. They will love the color of this mocktail.
