I love a special dessert around the holidays and this Amazing Mint Chocolate Pie is just perfect. This recipe is a minty twist on a fudge pie recipe. Its fudgy brownie texture is irresistible when served with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

What Are the Ingredients for Mint Chocolate Pie?

Ingredients for Mint Chocolate Pie

Some recipes you see for a chocolate mint pie or fudge pie use a chocolate cookie crust but there is so much chocolate already in this recipe I honestly don’t think you need more.

I like to make my own pie crust and you can find our recipe for homemade pie dough HERE!! If you are in a rush for time or intimated by pie dough you can buy great pie dough now in the dairy section of your grocery store. I like this much better than the frozen pie shells.

All ingredients should be very easily found in your local grocery store but I have added links above if you would like to order from Amazon.

Ingredients

  • 1 9-inch pie crust (I used homemade)
  • 2 ounces unsweetened dark chocolate
  • ½ cup, unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon mint extract (or peppermint extract)
  • ¼ teaspoon table salt
  • ½ cup mint chocolate candy baking chips

How to Make Mint Chocolate Pie

This recipe comes together quickly. No need for an electric mixer or food processor just a whisk and some simple manpower but you don’t need strength as it blends up in no time easily. Follow these easy steps in baking the best mint chocolate pie.

Heat oven to 350°F.

Prepare an unbaked 9-inch pie crust and place it into a pie dish.

In a saucepan, melt chocolate and butter on medium-low heat. Transfer to a medium bowl.

Add sugar, eggs, flour, mint extract, and salt. Mix with a wire whisk.

Pour filling into prepared, unbaked pie crust, and spread to cover the bottom. Look at how luscious that pie filling is!! Wait until you taste it!

Sprinkle mint chocolate chips evenly on top of pie filling. Isn’t it gorgeous already?

Bake pie for 45-55 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the edges of the filling start to crack.

Cool on a wire rack and make sure to let stand to cool for at least 2 hours before serving.

What to Serve Mint Chocolate Pie With?

Putting a fork into a slice of pie.

Now it is time to dig in but what to serve with Mint Chocolate Pie? Serve with whipped cream, whipped topping, ice cream, mint chocolate candy curls, and chocolate syrup.

The pie is delicious served when cooled or refrigerated with whipped cream (my favorite) or heated and served with ice cream. It makes for a festive dessert treat with its lovely minty and chocolate flavoring.

How to Store Mint Chocolate Pie

Serving up a slice of Mint Chocolate Pie out of the pan.

Once the pie has completely cooled it can be stored in the refrigerator. Simply wrap well with plastic wrap. Bring the pie back up to room temperature if you like before serving or as mentioned you can serve it cold also.

The pie can also be frozen but wrap it not only in plastic wrap but also foil. It can be stored for up to three months. Let thaw completely at room temperature or overnight in the refrigerator.
