Look how wonderfully rich and creamy this fudge looks. The bonus part is that you don’t have to stand at a stove and wait to come to temperature and have an aching arm from stirring. This recipe is done in a bowl and all in the microwave!! Very much like making our homemade microwave peanut brittle, so easy peasy and works every time!!

What is in Easy Chocolate Walnut Fudge?

Ingredients for Easy Chocolate Walnut Fudge.

You need only a few ingredients for this chocolate fudge recipe but do make sure you use quality items. You will get applauded for making this fudge by your family and friends!

This fudge is very thick, rich, and creamy. I like to use semisweet chocolate chips, so it is not overly sweet, but you can use your favorite variety or types of chocolate chips, such as milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips. Just make sure to use good quality chocolate such as Ghirardelli so that the mixture is smooth.

Ingredients

3 cups good quality semi-sweet chocolate chips

14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

1 cup chopped walnuts, divided

How To Make Easy Chocolate Walnut Fudge

The directions are very easy for this recipe, and if you have all the ingredients mise en place or ready and waiting for you, it only takes a few minutes to pull together. The hardest part is waiting for it to set so you can then eat it. Okay, let’s dive into this easy recipe.

Line an 8×8 or a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper, set aside. You can line the pan with foil or wax paper, but I do prefer to use parchment instead.

Place the chocolate chips in a large bowl and pour the sweetened condensed milk over them. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds on high. Let stand for 1 minute and stir until smooth. If the chocolate chips did not melt completely, microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.

Add the vanilla and sea salt, stir it in until combined.

Fold in ¾ cup of the walnuts until thoroughly mixed in.

Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread and smooth out the top. Press in the remaining walnuts on top.

Pressing walnuts into chocolate fudge.

Cover with foil or plastic wrap and place in the fridge for a few hours or overnight or until set. Take the fudge out of the dish by using the parchment paper to lift it up. Cut into squares and serve.

How to Store Chocolate Walnut Fudge

Holding a piece of fudge with a bite taken out.

Fudge is best stored at room temperature in an airtight container but can also be refrigerated. We usually tuck all of our candy treats in the refrigerator; I like them cold also.

Refrigerating will preserve freshness the longest, as it will prevent it from drying out. But fudge is a bit different and really shines when it is at room temperature instead of being served cold.

So to have the best fudge then simply store it at room temperature in an airtight container or warm it to room temperature before serving.

For a more sweet and salty effect, sprinkle more salt right on top with the walnuts. Or, you can use salted walnuts to add that salty effect all the way through the fudge with each bite you take.

How to Give Chocolate Walnut Fudge as a Gift

Square photo of chocolate walnut fudge on a platter.

We love to give fudge, cookies, and candies as treats for the holidays. I have done some pretty elaborate cookie box tins in the past with plain tins that I have embellished with print-outs, buttons, and other decorations. Have a look around at the many ideas until you find ones that you would like to make.

Craft stores, Amazon, or even your grocery stores sell little cardboard boxes, which I use to give homemade gifts in now. Line them with parchment or wax paper and fill them up methodically with your homemade goodies.

A clear cellophane bag also works well for gift giving if you are just giving a smaller amount. People appreciate a homemade gift way more than a gift card so put in a bit of effort for the holidays to put a smile on someone’s face.

Can You Freeze Chocolate Walnut Fudge?

Fudge does freeze well. Chocolate walnut fudge can be frozen when wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and tinfoil or sealed in an airtight container. It should last up to 3 months in the freezer. To defrost, just simply leave the container at room temperature and enjoy.
