30-Minute Meal Strategy

Overhead shot of a plated salmon dinner

Getting complete dinners on the table in a streamlined manner without sacrificing either flavor or nutrition does take a little strategy. We are here to help you with proven strategies to accomplish just that, a complete meal in 30 minutes.

Quick, easy prep also means fewer dishes and, therefore, less cleanup. Weekday or even weekend suppers can be created in little time. This leaves more time to spend with the family, enjoying activities, relaxing, or taking care of household demands. Using simple and easy-to-find ingredients is also key. You don’t want to be running around town in search of an ingredient that you may never use again. My goal is to give you back the time you need in a day yet still have a delicious meal on the table that your family will love.

What do you want from a recipe? For me, it is an easy approach, clear information, maybe a tip or two along the way and the end result is a great meal. I am sure this is what you want too, and I am happy to help. Taking simple ingredients and making something delicious in the end with little effort or time. It might sound like a dream come true? But in reality, it is very real and very doable. Let me help you unlock the flavor in a short, stress-free 30 minutes.

Sheet Pan Cooking on a baking pan is an extremely versatile method of cooking. Roasting makes vegetables become sweeter and meats crispier. My favorite sheet pan is an 11” x 17″. You can use one that is slightly larger, but it has to be sided to keep the flavorful juices in.

What Goes Into Salmon on a Sheet Pan?

Ingredients for Maple Dijon Sheet Pan Salmon Dinner

One of the key strategies to accomplishing a 30-minute meal is to have everything in its place or mise en place. Running to the backyard for a herb or to the basement pantry for a canned good will take time, but you should have those items at the ready when you are going to start cooking.

One other ingredient to have with this meal would be rice but don’t take the time to cook it in a pot that you then need to wash! Use the very convenient microwave packages of rice they have out now. In no time, you will have perfectly fluffy rice and no dishes to clean.

You can pair salmon and asparagus for this quick meal and just cook them all at the same time. Green beans take longer to roast, but they are nice as they can come washed and prepped for you already.

How To Cook Salmon on a Sheet Pan?

There is nothing like gorgeously roasted salmon for a heart healthy meal that takes no time to make and very little to clean. This is one of our favorite salmon recipes.

Okay, now that we have our ingredients, let’s get started on the recipe.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Cover a 12×18″ baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place the green beans around the outside of the baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Using maybe 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Bake the green beans in the oven for 10 minutes.

While the green beans are baking mix the Dijon mustard, maple syrup, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

Arrange the salmon fillets in the bowl to marinate, turning to coat completely.

After 10 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven and place the salmon fillets in the middle of the baking sheet.

Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 12 minutes or until the internal temperature of the salmon is between 110 – 125 degrees F.

Garnish with parsley and serve.

Other Variations For a Fantastic Salmon Sheet Pan Dinner

Although this combination of maple Dijon is fantastic, you may want to try some other delicious combinations:

  • Garlic Butter
  • Salt, pepper, and fresh lemon juice
  • Creamy lemon dill sauce
  • Honey, lime, sriracha
  • Teriyaki
  • Asian twist with a soy sauce, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and other ingredients you have handy, maybe a little Thai curry or a gochujang with the addition of honey or sugar
