Disclosure: I was compensated for this post by The Little Potato Company.  All opinions and experiences are my own.

These Air Fryer Diner Home Fries are just like the side you would get in a restaurant with your bacon and eggs. Crispy, seasoned, and with little bits of char for extra flavor. They are a beloved side dish made with The Little Potato Company’s Morning Pearl Creamer Potatoes that you can now make at home.

The best part is that they taste the same as diner fries yet without all the fat when roasted in an air fryer.

Here is a new varietal from The Little Potato Company called Morning Pearl. This potato, along with all the other varietals, is fat, cholesterol, sodium, and gluten-free. The Morning Pearl Little Potatoes have a mildly fresh floral flavor and a fluffy smooth texture. They are consistently sized, and therefore the potatoes cook evenly, which is important in your air fryer.

These Morning Pearl Little Potatoes are a great source of potassium and dietary fiber. They are considered a “good carb” as they are a vegetable, just like whole grains (cooked), legumes, and fruit. “Bad carbs are noted as highly processed, refined carbohydrates—white bread or white rice, for example—are stripped of beneficial fiber, water and nutrients, often filled with fat and sugar, all of which increase the risk of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.-2. (excerpted from Creamer Potatoes are Good Carbs).

How Much Oil Do You Put in an Air Fryer for Home Fries?

Usually, when you are seeing diner fries made on the flat top at a restaurant, they pour on the oil. Using your air fryer, you will get the same great crispy outside and tender fluffy inside. These Little Potatoes will be just like at a diner but with much less oil.

The recipe calls for only 2 Tbsp. which is plenty for 1 1/2 lbs. of Creamer Potatoes cut up plus onions and red peppers.

How To Make Home Fries in an Air Fryer

Ingredients for Air Fryer Diner Home Fries

Only a few simple ingredients are needed, and the air fryer does all the work for you! Using Creamer Potatoes from The Little Potato Company makes this recipe so easy for you.

No washing needed, and better yet, no peeling needed either. Little Potatoes skins are thin and delicious and are meant to be eaten. Plus, they crisp up gorgeously in the air fryer. Not having to wash or peel is a huge time saver.

Ingredients

Morning Pearl Little Potatoes

Yellow onion

Red bell pepper

Olive oil

Seasoning salt

Garlic powder

Paprika

Just a few quick steps before you place the Little Potatoes into the air fryer. Get the bacon cooking and the eggs on so you are ready for a screaming diner breakfast.

Place the cubed potatoes in a large bowl, add the olive oil, seasoning salt, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss the potatoes to coat.

Seasoned cubed potatoes in an air fryer

Preheat the air fryer and then pour the seasoned potatoes into the basket of your air fryer.

Cook the potatoes at 370 degrees for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.

Add the onions and peppers to the basket and continue to cook for another 15-17 minutes. Shake the air fryer basket halfway through again.

The potatoes should be soft on the inside and golden browned crispy on the outside with small charred bits from the onion and peppers. Keep an eye on the cook time as there are so many different air fryers, and they all work a bit differently.

Now you can just dive right in. Grab your eggs and bacon, and you have a complete diner breakfast without leaving the house.

Variations to Your Air Fryer Home Fries

Change up the flavoring for the potatoes and instead of seasoning salt, try Cajun seasoning, packaged dry ranch dressing, herbs and garlic, taco seasoning or try some other packaged seasoning or spices that you love. Plain old salt and pepper work too!

Top the potatoes with crumbled bacon, cheese, green onions, fresh herbs like parsley, rosemary, cilantro or more.

Serve them up with a little sour cream, hot sauce, salsa, ketchup or your favorite condiment.

If you have company staying over, they will be asking for the recipe, please!

These Air Fryer Diner Home Fries are like a restaurant-style side dish that everyone loves. Golden browned crispy potatoes with bits of slightly charred onions and peppers will have you coming back for more. The best part is that you use way less oil in your air fryer, so go ahead and have seconds.
