What Goes Best With Bacon?

Bacon is such a versatile product and pairs well with so many things. The shape and size of bacon lend itself perfectly as a wrap. Let’s face it bacon-wrapped anything is awesome, from chicken to cheese, but you can wrap other things as well! A little potato, or maybe some asparagus spears. Don’t forget about other types of meat, like beef tenderloin, or even turkey!

Let’s not forget that bacon adds so much flavor to any dish. From pasta to soup, in a salad or a quiche, oh and can you imagine a pot of rich baked beans with brown sugar and no bacon? Then there is bacon jam and candy bacon; the list goes on and on!

Let’s not forget all those out of this world appetizers or a side dish that you can create with bacon. Little cheesy cheddar bacon bites, yummy. You can use it in a bacon potato salad, in a casserole and of course the classic, crisp bacon with an egg or two!

What is the Best Way to Cook Bacon?

You can cook bacon in a variety of ways, but here at Noshing With The Nolands we think the best way to cook bacon is in the oven. Some people like to fry it up in a pan, but I find that messy, who wants to clean the stovetop after you cook your bacon?

Here is what we like to do and it works like a charm! Line a cookie sheet with tin foil so that there are no seams and the foil rises up the side of the pan, even if it is just a 1/2 inch or so. This will make cleaning super simple.

Layout the strips of bacon on the foil-lined pan and put in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes, turning once.  You will want to watch it for the last few minutes so that you cook your bacon the way you want so you don’t overcook it.

Now all that is left is to clean up, and of course, eat the bacon! I simply put the lined pan aside until the bacon fat is solidified and then I peel the foil off the pan and voila, clean pan with no mess!

Finger Food!

Bacon and appetizers have always gone hand in hand. Bacon is so easy to work with and usually, you can prepare your creations ahead of time and freeze them, cooking them up when you need too.

I’m sure that you are going to find some fabulous appetizer ideas for your next party or gathering!

I bookmarked this page. My head was spinning looking at all these delicious recipes with bacon. I want to try making the bacon jam first. I know it won’t last long in our house especially if my sons find it first, so I just have to double your recipe to make sure everyone gets to have their fill.
